He gave seven million dollars to Priorities USA Action, and might give another three million dollars to them. He gave two million dollars to American Bridge First Century, and a lot more donations to many other PACs and action groups. George Soros founded the Open Society Foundation. It believes that people should always participate in government. A lot of the groups who encouraged the protests got funding from the Open Society Foundation. Of course, the decision to protest comes from the groups themselves. It is solely their decision, as the Open Society Foundation donates money to causes they think is just without any strings or conditions attached.
